Six Years and Still Growing Strong!

Hey everyone! It is the month of May and something happened to me this month almost six years ago. I've told this story many times and I love sharing it because it makes me feel like I've done something good or made someone feel good about themselves. So, let get started!

On May 28, 2008 at 3:30pm, I went to the hospital because my kindergarten teacher (love her) saw that something wasn't quite right with my body. My mother took me to the emergency room. Finally when it was my turn to go, the nurse had checked my blood glucose, which I knew nothing about, and it was 500 plus. That wasn't  good for any diabetic at all. I was then in the hospital from Wednesday to Sunday afternoon. I was connected to an IV. An IV is a machine used to give fluids in the body when no insulin has be producing. It monitors how many hours of fluid it's going to give me. After being in the hospital for almost half a week, I was sent home, but not just by myself. I went home with something called insulin. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that enables glucose to enter most cells. My body wasn't producing enough insulin, so that's how I got diabetes. My ribs were able to be seen, I got skinner, and used the bathroom a lot!

Almost six years later, I'm bigger, better, and stronger. Sometimes I do feel that diabetes can effect my lifestyle and the way that I live, but I just remember that I'm in control of it and that:
NO WEAPON FORGED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER, AND I WILL REFUTE EVERY TONGUE THAT ASSESS ME. I love my life, friends, family, and I wouldn't want any other way.

That's all for now!
