What's Wrong With Them?

I'm not hating on any celebrities, but something I saw on Sunday, August, 25th was just plain weird. Miley Cyrus was so-called "twerking" on Robin Thicke and that freaked me out. So, I changed the channel for 2 minutes and she was done. When the show was done, I asked myself, "What's wrong with her image?" All I'm saying to make this clear, DON'T RUIN YOU'RE IMAGE.

It's in the app store! It's on google play! It's everywhere! Candy crush is 1 o f the top 5 games in apple & google play. My friends, family, and I all play it. When I get out of school, on my iPad, and other places. It's one of my favorite games! I'm on level 36 and I have a long way to go! Enjoy playing!

Reading is fundamental?

For school, I have to read two books each year. I'm going to 6th grade next month and I have to read Black Beauty & The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. My friend, Indigo said black beauty is BORING. I think the story is sad, so far. I haven't read huckleberry Finn yet, but I'm sure it's a good book! I love to read a lot, but sometimes the book gets too much!

Out Of Control!

I'm sorry to confess, but my blood sugar has been high for a while. I'm becoming a older girl and I feel like a 8 year old girl again. I'm pretty mad at myself for not controlling my hygiene & health. Yes, if you didn't know I'm a diabetic for first timers. I'm a healthy eater, but sometimes I get on my high horse when it comes to eating. I start eating a meal like dinner, and in an hour, I become hungry again. So, I find myself in the kitchen looking for a snack. Then I keep eating and eating. [Keeping in mind I have to take INSULIN] My mother finds me eating and I'm in so-called trouble. I check my sugar and its probably between 250-350 and I feel awful. All I'm trying to say is to all the diabetics, you are in control of the diabetes. God said everything is going to be a-okay.! I believe in his word. (Mommy, if you're reading this, things will change in our lives. ❤❤❤)

It's July and I'm hot! Today is my cousin's Devin's birthday! It's been raining in New York and all of a sudden it's hot! The weather has been going up to 90 degrees and lower! Jessa & Gywnne Furches

Jessa and Gywnne Furches are one of my rolemodles. They are really big fans of Michael J. Jackson. I have diabetes and they have something close to that. It's called Cystic Fibrosis. I'm not really sure what it is, but I was checking their YouTube channel and they made a story on it. Jessa and Gywnne said that they would cough a lot and their hair would start falling out and lots of other things. They are really brave!
     Us singers have something in common with them. They sing! Jessa and Gywnne post it on their YouTube channel called, "FurchesTwins". The duo sings lots of MJ songs and make a mini show called "Furches Files". They sure are sweet as pie!
   I love them very much even though I've never met them. They are brave to share their personal things they have to take care of themselves. One day I hope Jessa and Gwynne see this!

My Birthday!

On June 24, 2002 a baby was born. That baby was me! In 18 days, I'll be 11! Last year before I had this awesome blog, my 10th birthday was BIG! As everyone says, school as place to learn and become educated for the future. I agree. Some students from school say, "School is boring. How is this going to help me in the future?" Well when you get older, you'll thank all your teachers and books for who you are in your future. I like school most of the time. Sometimes I get bored in school. I feel that I've accomplished a lot more this year in 5th grade than last year in 4th grade. I'm on the road to greatness with my family and two of my best friends. My Family:
I love my family and I'm very happy that I'm able to see them everyday in my life. They've supported  me for everything that I've done. There is a lot to say about them that I can't remember right now, but I just wanted to say that I ❤ YOU!

My Music Teacher - Mr. Quiller
Well, Mr. Q (as my school calls him) is my school's music teacher and choir director. He's funny, always happy, and an amazing teacher. I happy to have him in the school. I pray that there is more for him in his future!

State Tests and Stanford 10

I have 3 tests that I take every year.
The first test is the English Language Arts Examination. This test is based on your reading, writing, and grammar skills. I just finished it on Thursday. The next test is the New York State Math Exam. It focuses on your math skills in different topics of math. I will take this test next week Wednesday. The last exam is the Stanford 10. This test is based on all subjects and topics in all my classes. I know I will pass all of these test and move onto 6th grade!

Forever 21

Forever 21 is my favorite stope for my accessories. I buy bags, rings, necklaces, nail polish, bracelets. You name it! I went to Atlantic City, New Jersey for the weekend and I bought a ring, a pair of earrings shaped into butterflies. Later, I went back and got a green & silver bookbag shaped bag. I hope this store is still in stock when I'm older!

Spring Break and Good Friday.

I was going to put a post on Friday to represent Good Friday, but I was busy.
Yes, of course, I'm a Christian and I'm blessed to be one. My Family has taught me to be greatful for what I have because some children do not what I have. Good Friday is the day Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins. If Jesus never had done this, we wouldn't be able to be on Earth. I love God and am very blessed that he is with me every step of my days.

I'm like so happy to be on Spring Break. I started on Friday. My break is kind of short though. I'm kind of sad about that! :(  After the break is straight to ELA (English, Language Arts Exam), Math State, and Standford 10. I'm just going to enjoy my week that I have off and study hard!

Mondays.......

Mondays starts the beginning of my school week. Mondays are so boring. I'm sometimes sleepy, or I just don't like how my Mondays start. My monday schedule isn't really long thought. My last period is Physical Education. When I'm getting ready to go home, I get this headache. It bugs me a lot.

Our Dream Life!

Hello everybody! Sorry I haven't been posting blogs. I've been kind of busy.
I'm in 5th grade and my teacher told us that we will be able to publish a book. The name of my book is called "Our Dream Life!" It's about two 9th graders named Rose Jenson and Alexis Carter dreams come alive by starting with their school's fashion show for amateurs/beginners. During all of this, they meet up with their enemies since 6th grade. (Their enemies names: Jessica Paris, Shaylee Lesley, and Layla James.) Also while preparing for the fashion show, Rose and Alexis hardly have time to spend time with each other. Rose does cheerleading at school and Alexis does gymnastics. Alexis decides to join the cheerleading team and quits gymnastics. I don't want to say anymore and give it away. When my book is done, I'll be sure to make a video on my book!

Music is a beat or sound that you make. I love music. I'm a singer. I simply love music! I have a lot of favorite artist. My latest favorite singers/bands are Lana Del Rey, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Zendaya, Alicia Keys, The Lumineers, Mary Mary, Britt Nicole, and many more. Music helps me to relax, and think about other things in my life. Music is apart of my life!

Art is a type of genre that shows different feelings. Another thing I like to do is paint. I have an art teacher named Ms. Austin in my school and she is an amazing artist. She tells us stories about what she does and she's still in art school learning and then teaching my school. My favorite artist is Frida Kahlo. She was a Mexican painter whom is an inspiration to me. Art to me is relaxing, soothing, and peaceful.
Do whatever you set your mind to. Don't let anybody stop you from doing what you feel like.

Valentine's Day

I understand Valentine's Day is about giving all the love to that special someone. I want to share my Valentine's Day story. On Thursday February 14, I had a fever and that was the worst fever I had all year. It was 102.6. I was sent home early. When I got home, I went to lay down. I was going to make my mom something special, since she did that for me. My body got so drowsy, that I just went to sleep. Then, later that night, my mom came home and I told her, "Mom, I couldn't make your surprise because  I was drowsy." Well last night, I made her surprise and she loved it!
Moral: It's never to late to make a surprise. Every day is Valentine's Day!

Special Friends

    This is a special post for two friends I deeply love and adore. Indigo and Arielle.
Ever since I met Indigo, she has been a loyal friend. Believe me, she is awesome to hang out with. She has a sense of style, she's smart, funny, talented, sweet and etc. Even when I got diabetes, she was still around. We share the same taste and sometime we don't. She's like my sister from another mister. So Indigo, if you're reading this now, I want you to know that you are special to me.

     I met Arielle in February 2012. We were waiting for the bus to go coming home from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Her mom, Cynthia overheard a conversation with my mom, grandmas, and aunts. She didn't mean to barge, but as wonderful as my family is, they said she can join in. I saw Arielle looking glum and asked her, "What's your name?' She replied, "I'm Arielle." So, we went on and on. I found out she had diabetes, too! We had the same pump and almost the same meter. It was so fun to meet her. We sat on the bus together all the way home. My family found out she was from Panama as well. Now we have been friends ever since. Ari, if you see this, just know, I love you!

Anti-Bullying

     On January 16, 2013, my class had an Anti-bullying presentation with the District Attorney's Office and I was happy when they came. The lady and man showed my class videos on bullying. The first video was on two boys rapping on how bullying isn't cool. Then next video was on how a girl felt what bullying meant to her. The last video was on an assembly in which a girl was making a speech on another girl in her class and made crucial remarks about her. Then, they asked my class questions about the 3 videos such as: What is bullying to you?, What was the videos about?, & etc. Later, there was a mini-series on a girl named K.B. and it was her first day to her new school. She wasn't really excited until her mom said she had bought her new clothes. When she got to school, she went to her first class and met her teacher she met at Science Camp. When exiting the classroom, she bumps into Cassandra, the Cat and she called her stupid and all of that. Before they left, they asked us if we have been bullied. I said what happened to me in 4th grade, which is in the blog post before this one and I felt relived when I said it.
If you're being bullied, doing just sit there, make a change. Tell a teacher, a parent or a trusted adult. You're not alone. Together, we can overcome bullying.

Too Blessed To Be Stressed

               I've had diabetes for almost 5 years now and when I was in the end of 4th grade, some boys in my class teased me because I stink and that I had a disease. That year I was stressed. I came home and told my mom, Dorian that I'm stressed. My mom told me, "Kaya, you're too blessed to be stressed." Those words hit me and I've kept that in my mind everywhere I go! I was glad 4th grade was over. This year is better. I have two amazing teachers, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Robinson. I feel more confident in the 5th grade because I know that I have two teachers that are going to help me to be the best I can be. I know people think diabetes means I CAN'T DO anything they can do, but I know what I'm capable of doing what you can do, but better! So go out and have fun. You're different, but the  same.

School & Diabetes

 I've been going to school with diabetes for a while and I've gotten used to it. Being in school and having diabetes is fine. You can still be a normal student and school. When I go to school, I have to take better care of myself because I'm not with my mom until later . There is a nurse at my school, Mr. Charles who takes good care of me. I have friends who help and keep me happy.  I've had diabetes for 4-5 years and I'm still living a normal life. So, have fun with your life and you can see how you can still have a happy life with diabetes.

I Am Here!!!

Happy New Year!!! 

My name is Kaya and I am 10 years old. I started this blog for children with diabetes and to show you can still enjoy being a kid.
First, I'd like to write a little summary on how I found out I had diabetes. 
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on Wednesday May 28, 2008. I was just in Kindergarten, and my teacher started to notice weird things going on with me. My teacher called my mother to come and pick me up. Later that day, my mother took me to the hospital at 3:30pm. When the nurse checked my blood glucose and it was 500 from what I can remember. That was the day I was told I had Type 1 Diabetes and it has been a part of my life ever since.
